Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about theimgapp and how it works.

Is theimgapp free?

Yes, theimgapp is 100% free. All 60+ tools are available without signup, without watermarks, and without any hidden fees. There are no premium tiers or locked features.

Are my images stored on your servers?

No. Your images are processed and returned immediately. They are never stored, logged, or shared. Once processing is complete and the result is sent back to your browser, the original and processed files are discarded from server memory.

What are the file size limits?

Each individual file can be up to 50 MB. For batch processing, you can upload up to 50 files at once. Results for batch operations are returned as a single ZIP download.

What image formats are supported?

theimgapp supports JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, TIFF, SVG, HEIC, BMP, PDF, and ICO. Not every tool supports every format — for example, the HEIC to JPG converter specifically handles Apple HEIC files, while most other tools work with the common formats (JPG, PNG, WebP).

Can I use the API programmatically?

Yes. All tools are backed by public POST endpoints that accept multipart/form-data. Send your images via the "images" field along with any tool-specific parameters. See the API Guide for full documentation and examples.

Is there a mobile app?

There is no native mobile app, but theimgapp is fully mobile-responsive. You can use all tools from your phone or tablet browser with the same functionality as desktop.

How does batch processing work?

Most tools support batch processing. Simply upload multiple files (up to 50) at once. All files are processed with the same settings you configure. When the processing is complete, you receive a single ZIP file containing all processed images.

What quality does compression use?

The default compression quality is 80 on a scale of 1-100, which provides a good balance between file size reduction and visual quality. You can adjust this with the quality slider — lower values produce smaller files with more compression artifacts, while higher values preserve more detail at larger file sizes. The Lossless Optimize tool can also reduce file size without any quality loss at all.

Do you strip EXIF data from images?

By default, most processing tools preserve your EXIF metadata. If you want to strip metadata for privacy (removing GPS location, camera info, etc.), use the dedicated Metadata tool with the strip option enabled.

What is the maximum image resolution supported?

theimgapp can handle images up to 100 megapixels (e.g., 10000 x 10000 pixels). Extremely large images may take longer to process. For best performance, images under 25 megapixels are recommended.
